India may export 3.5 to 4 million tonnes of wheat to neighbours through March 2021 if an export subsidy is extended, versus 0.18 million tonnes last year. Exporters have already contracted 0.5 million tonnes, and the government holds large wheat stocks to discharge before the April harvest.
Potential Indian wheat exports of this scale would add supply to Asian markets and compete with Black Sea and other origins, a mild bearish factor for world wheat prices.
