American Commercial Barge Lines reports the Illinois River is open end to end after flooding, though transit is slow and some bridges are impassable. Scheduled lock closures for extensive repair work will still begin July 1 and the river is not expected to fully reopen until November 1.
Planned Illinois River lock closures from July to November will restrict barge movements for grain above the closure, likely pushing volumes to rail or trucks and supporting basis and freight costs for Illinois origination.
