Rabobank cut its 2020 global pork production outlook to an 8% decline, citing COVID-19 plant disruptions in the US, Brazil and EU alongside African swine fever pressure in China and Southeast Asia. US live hog prices were down 41% year over year in early July due to ample inventories, and US pork exports were up 32% year to date.
Sharply lower global pork output, especially in China, supports longer-term demand for feed ingredients, while US hog oversupply keeps near-term hog prices weak.
