China's pork production fell 0.8% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2024, the third consecutive quarterly decline, per National Bureau of Statistics data. The herd fell 3.5% year-on-year to 426.94 million head, and cash hog prices dropped to a four-month low of US$2.41/kg.
Weak demand and shrinking herd sizes point to softer Chinese hog-sector feed demand, a modest bearish factor for feed grains and soymeal.
