University of Missouri Extension warned that drought stress and high nighttime temperatures during tasseling and silking can cause significant corn yield losses. About 21% of Missouri corn was in silking on July 6, and dryness was concentrated in the southwest of the state.
NOAA issued a drought early warning for the Missouri River Basin and much of the Midwest.
