The US International Trade Commission made a preliminary determination that there is a reasonable indication U.S. phosphate fertilizer producers are materially injured by imports from Morocco and Russia. The notice was published in the Federal Register on August 13, 2020, and covers tariff codes for phosphate fertilizers.
A preliminary injury finding keeps countervailing duties on Moroccan and Russian phosphate in play, which would tighten US supply and lift DAP and TSP prices. Feed and crop buyers should expect higher phosphate input costs if duties advance.
