The IGC soybean price index stood at 242 points in early October, more than 30% above a year earlier and the highest since August 2014. China imported 9.8 million tonnes of soybeans in September, up 19% year on year, with Brazilian supplies tightening and short-dated prices rising sharply.
Strong Chinese import demand and tightening Brazilian availability keep world soybean and soymeal prices elevated, raising feed input costs for buyers.
