Chinese purchases of key US farm products have largely stalled in October as buyers await the US presidential election. State-owned soybean buying has mostly stopped, and China's soybean coverage for 2020 is near full while corn buying has run at a record pace.
With soybean and meat making up nearly half of purchases, the Phase One target is at risk, and softer Chinese pork prices signal slower herd rebuilding that could cut future soymeal, soybean and corn demand.
