US corn sales to China total about 10.6 million tonnes as of October 22, above USDA's 7 MMT import projection and the 7.2 MMT low-tariff quota. Analysts speculate China may raise its quota after Chinese corn production was damaged by typhoons and flooding.
If China expands its tariff-rate quota and buys more US corn, export demand would tighten US supplies and support corn prices, a key feed ingredient.
