China's pig herd has reached more than 90 percent of normal levels by end-November, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs via Xinhua. Live hog prices have risen since late November on seasonal demand and strict coronavirus inspections slowing imported meat.
A near-recovered Chinese herd sustains strong feed demand, supporting grain and meal prices. Hog price strength reinforces expectations of continued Chinese imports.
