Lean hog futures rose solidly this week after reports that China's herd rebuilding was slowed by African swine fever and PED. Chinese live hog prices fell 11.6% in a month as farmers sold hogs, and US disease pressure from PEDv and PRRS may tighten supplies from May.
Chinese disease losses and possible US supply tightening support hog prices and could lift future meat import and feed demand.
