A USDA-sponsored two-year pilot is developing a US Swine Health Improvement Plan modeled on the National Poultry Improvement Plan. It would certify pork operations as monitored for African swine fever and classical swine fever.
The program is a biosecurity and certification initiative that could later support export access, but it has no immediate effect on feed demand or hog prices.
