Indian rice exports gained momentum after an additional port, Kakinada deepwater, was opened to ease congestion that had pushed waiting times up to four weeks. India's 5% broken parboiled rice eased to $395-$401 a tonne from a multi-year high, while Thai and Vietnamese prices remained firm.
Faster loading at Kakinada should cut demurrage costs and lift export volumes, adding supply to a market where Asian prices are already softening. Lower Indian quotes ease pressure on global rough rice values.
