The US dollar gained 0.71% against the Thai baht and 0.25% against the Singapore dollar in the week to late March, while emerging market equities fell about 1.5%. The Bank of Thailand held rates at 0.50% and cut its GDP outlook due to Covid and weak tourism.
A firmer dollar against ASEAN currencies raises the local cost of dollar-denominated feed imports across the region, but the move is small and mostly reflects routine FX flows.
