South Korea's finance ministry said it will step up efforts to smooth foreign exchange volatility and capital flows as rising US Treasury yields could increase market swings. The 10-year US Treasury yield had risen close to 1.6 percent on recovery and inflation hopes.
Rising US yields tend to strengthen the dollar and pressure emerging-market currencies, which can raise the local cost of imported feed ingredients.
