The US dollar weakened after Powell's Jackson Hole speech lifted equities, bonds, commodities and other currencies. Markets read the Fed's language as meaning rate hikes are further off, while Hurricane Ida cut power across large parts of the Gulf region and supported gasoline prices.
A softer dollar supports dollar-denominated commodity prices, while Gulf storm disruption adds upward pressure to energy and logistics costs for feed buyers.
