The dollar struggled on May 18, 2020 as a jump in oil prices lifted commodity currencies such as the Norwegian crown and Canadian dollar. Gold rose above 0.7% near a seven-year high while the dollar index was down about 0.12% at 100.25.
Higher oil prices weaken the dollar and support commodity-linked currencies, which tends to lift grain and oilseed prices in dollar terms and supports biofuel-linked feedstocks.
