AgRural expects Brazil's first corn area in the center-south to grow just 0.6% in 2021/22, as farmers favor soybeans because of higher input costs, especially fertilizer. Planting is 5.3% complete, and the consultancy sees first crop output rising 2.7 million tonnes to 21.5 million.
A nearly flat corn area and a modest output gain mean limited extra corn supply, while the shift toward soybeans supports soy acreage and prices.
