ATIBT, a tropical timber trade body, published a decoding and FAQ on the European Commission's draft regulation against imported deforestation. The group said some of its comments were included, but that several points on sustainable forest management and the timber sector remain unclear.
The rules could raise compliance costs and documentation burdens for tropical wood imports, which affects timber trade more than grain or oilseed prices. The direct effect on feed commodity markets is minimal.
