The US Commerce Department made a preliminary ruling that UAN fertilizer imports from Russia and Trinidad and Tobago are unfairly subsidized, which could bring additional tariffs. The National Corn Growers Association opposed the move, warning that tariffs would create shortages and raise costs.
Proposed countervailing duties could restrict US nitrogen import supply and lift domestic fertilizer prices, adding cost pressure for corn growers. Trade flows are shifting to other origins as a result.
