The National Cattlemen's Beef Association renewed its call for USDA to suspend fresh beef imports from Brazil over BSE reporting concerns. Brazilian exports to the US rose 131% in 2021, and a temporary 26.4% tariff safeguard will apply for the rest of 2022.
A possible import suspension would tighten US fresh beef supply and support cattle prices, while the tariff safeguard already limits extra imports.
