France's farm office projected its first 2022 soft wheat crop at 32.895 million tonnes, down 7.2% from last year. Barley output was projected at 11.177 million tonnes, down 2.4%, and the harvest was running early after hot, dry weather hurt some areas.
A smaller French crop tightens EU and global wheat supply at a time when Ukrainian exports are disrupted, supporting wheat prices and feed grain alternatives.
