A USDA Foreign Service report says global fertilizer prices are near record levels and may stay elevated through 2022 and beyond. It notes fertilizer is about 36% of corn operating costs and 35% for wheat, and that trade restrictions compound shortages.
Elevated fertilizer costs could cut 2023 planting and yields, tightening feed grain supply later and supporting grain prices.
