Limited barge availability on the Mississippi has increased rail and truck hauling of grain to the Gulf for export. National Grain and Feed Association CEO Mike Seyfert said St. Louis to Gulf rail carloads nearly doubled year over year in mid-October, and secondary-market rail car prices rose sharply.
