The Egg Industry Center reported October 2022 producer egg value at $2.07 per dozen, up 266% year over year. Corn at $58 per ton and soybean meal at $105 per ton were both up about 30% from October 2021, lifting layer feed costs 27%.
Bird flu losses have cut US layer flock size by about 4.5%, keeping egg values high. Higher corn and soymeal prices raise layer feed costs, and these feed price increases are reflected in the cost of production.
