Mexico's health authority Cofepris and scientific council Conacyt formed a working group to assess risks of GM corn consumption, following a U.S. request for trade consultations. Mexico imports about 17 million tonnes of GM corn, mostly for animal feed.
A risk review could lead to restrictions on the large GM corn import flow to Mexico, which would be bearish for U.S. corn exports and prices.
