Canadian Pacific Kansas City is preparing for a possible strike by about 3,300 workers next month as negotiations near a deadline. CEO Keith Creel says positions have not changed much and a conservative volume forecast reflects strike risk.
Combined with 6,000 CN workers, a stoppage could halt most Canadian freight rail traffic.
A near-total halt of Canadian rail would strand grain and potash shipments, pushing up freight costs and tightening feed grain supply to export buyers.
