Gold and silver fell sharply on Tuesday as traders expected the Fed's policy meeting to signal higher-for-longer interest rates. June gold was down about $49 near $2,308 and July silver was down about 95 cents.
Expectations of tighter policy strengthen the dollar and raise financing costs across commodities, a pressure that can weigh on grain and oilseed prices.
