Gold and silver fell after Chicago Fed President Charles Evans said rates could rise before inflation reaches 2%, lifting the dollar to two-month highs. Silver fell 4% to a two-month low and gold dropped below $1,900.
A hawkish Fed signal strengthens the dollar, which pressures dollar-denominated commodities and can weigh on grain and oilseed export competitiveness. Oil was also pressured by COVID-19 concerns.
