A Pork Business analysis says a possible October 1 dockworkers' strike on East and Gulf coasts would leave bulk grain exports largely unaffected. Containerised farm exports such as soybeans and soybean meal would be disrupted, and no formal ILA-USMX talks had been scheduled.
Containerised soybean and meal exports from East and Gulf ports are a small share of total flows, but a strike could divert buyers to other origins. Bulk exports from the Gulf would keep moving, which limits the price impact.
