FAO's Crop Prospects and Food Situation report (No. 2, July 2025) finds Southern African cereal output rebounding after last year's drought and Far East Asian wheat heading for an all-time high in 2025. It also flags below-average harvests in North and Near East Asia, and large Brazilian and Uruguayan maize outturns supporting South American output.
Record Far East Asian wheat and large South American maize point to ample supplies, which is bearish for grain prices, while weak North African and Near East output provides limited offsetting import demand.
