Oil rose after Ukraine attacked a key Russian oil port and Iran seized a tanker near the Strait of Hormuz. West Texas Intermediate settled up 2.4%, above $60 a barrel, and Brent also advanced.
Attacks on export infrastructure and tanker seizures add a geopolitical risk premium to crude, raising energy and freight costs for feed buyers. The price effect depends on whether the disruptions persist.
