CBOT wheat futures settled higher on Monday on hopes of renewed Chinese purchases of US wheat and technical short-covering. European wheat hit a two-month high on euro weakness and rumors of Chinese demand.
Weekly US export inspections of 350,293 metric tons were in line with expectations.
Reports of Chinese interest in US wheat support export demand expectations, but unconfirmed rumors and short-covering drive the move more than new fundamentals. Price upside depends on actual purchases materializing.
