The JRC reports that winter crop sowing across Europe is progressing well and establishment of winter cereals and rapeseed is generally favourable. Dry conditions slowed sowing in central Italy, eastern Hungary and western Romania, while excess rain delayed fields in southern Romania and northern Bulgaria.
Favourable establishment supports the EU 2026 crop outlook, which tends to weigh on wheat and barley prices, though limited winter hardening raises frost risk if cold arrives.
