Australian beef exporters adapt as China caps imports, shifts global trade flows

China's three-year safeguard regime on beef imports took effect January 1, capping Australian beef at 205,000 mt in 2026 with a 55% tariff on excess volumes. Industry sources expect a scramble for allocations that could favour trims, offal and bones.
