A maritime workers' strike led by FESIMAF began a 48-hour walkout on February 18 against a planned labor reform. The grain exporters' chamber said it was paralyzing shipments through Argentine ports.
The SOEA oilseed crushing union also announced a 24-hour strike.
Stoppages at Argentine ports and crushing plants delay soymeal and soyoil exports and can lift global meal prices. The effect should fade once work resumes.
