The EU is keeping the EUDR application date of December 30, 2026 but is pruning parts of the scope, including removing leather and not adding a negligible-risk country exemption. The Commission says the simplification measures could cut annual compliance costs for companies by about 75%.
A lower compliance burden makes it easier for exporters to keep supplying EU buyers of soy, palm and other covered commodities. Certainty on the deadline reduces the risk of a sudden drop in EU demand.
