Bird flu detections in commercial poultry flocks were reported in 12 states in a June USDA APHIS update, including layers, broilers and turkeys. More than 100 million birds have been lost in the current outbreak cycle.
Fresh commercial flock losses reduce feed demand and can push egg and poultry prices higher, with retail effects lagging six to eight weeks. The scale of ongoing losses is a modest feed-demand negative.
