Reuters reports that US corn and soybean producers faced acute margin pressure in late summer, with regional agricultural diesel prices up over 40% due to the Iran conflict and fertilizer costs elevated. Continuous corn futures broke above $5.00 per bushel during a monthly rally after the September WASDE cut corn yield estimates to 178.5 bu/acre.
Higher energy and input costs plus a tighter corn balance sheet support feed grain prices and raise the cost of feed production for buyers.
