FAO, WHO and WOAH issued an updated joint risk assessment of recent high pathogenicity avian influenza A(H5) events in animals and people, based on data as of 1 March 2026. It updates the previous assessment of 21 July 2025 with newly available global information.
The assessment stresses One Health coordination for monitoring virus circulation and preventing spread among animals and to humans.
The assessment reinforces ongoing biosecurity and surveillance demands in poultry production, which can lead to flock losses and trade restrictions. No immediate change in supply or price is indicated.
