The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) asked the government to cut palm oil export taxes to offset US reciprocal tariffs. Indonesia faces a 34% tariff versus 24% for Malaysia, and GAPKI says Indonesian palm oil exports carry about US$221 per ton in costs versus US$140 for Malaysia.
Higher relative tariffs and costs could shift US palm oil demand toward Malaysia, pressuring Indonesian export volumes and prices unless duties are reduced.
