Advanced Biofuels Association president Michael McAdams and energy analyst Andy Lipow discussed the E15 waiver debate. The industry seeks a Clean Air Act amendment to extend the one-pound volatility waiver to gasoline with up to 15% ethanol, which could add about 7 billion gallons of ethanol demand.
EPA has also removed the waiver for 10% ethanol blends in eight Midwestern states.
Expanded E15 sales would raise ethanol demand and corn grind, supporting corn prices, while the EPA rule change in Midwestern states could limit near-term ethanol blending volumes.
