China's purchases of U.S. agricultural and related products totaled $10.7 billion through April 2024, the same pace as 2021 but behind 2022 and 2023. Soybean and corn purchases have fallen sharply on a dollar basis, while poultry exports are also lower.
Weaker Chinese buying of U.S. soybeans and corn means less export demand to absorb U.S. supplies, which weighs on domestic futures and basis.
