COFCO, China's state-owned buyer, purchased three US soybean cargoes of about 180,000 metric tons for December-January shipment, its first purchases from the current US harvest, according to trade sources. The purchases came shortly before a summit between Trump and Xi.
The first purchases of new-crop US beans signal some demand return, but traders expect limited sustained demand because of heavy recent South American buying, so the price impact is modest.
