DTN analysis compares state soybean yields with the U.S. average over 5, 10 and 20-year periods. Illinois yields are improving relative to the nation, while North Dakota, Kansas, Michigan and Minnesota yields have declined relative to the U.S. average.
Shifting production toward lower-yielding northern and Plains states could tighten soybean supply over time and affect soybean meal and oil availability for feed.
