According to the US Drought Monitor published April 10, five major corn states, including Colorado, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Texas, had the most intense drought. Colorado winter wheat was rated mostly fair to good as planting had not begun.
Extreme drought in key corn-producing states raises concern about early-season yield risk and can support corn and wheat prices. The coverage is small in Colorado, so the effect on national supply is limited.
