Heating degree days ran 11 percent below normal for the US season through January 18, with the South Atlantic 20 percent below. Concern about coronavirus spread in China also pushed prices lower, and natural gas broke below two dollars.
Warm weather cuts heating fuel demand and weakens energy prices, which lowers input costs for feed producers. The virus threat adds further downward pressure on oil and fuel demand.
