Energy markets tightened as Asian LNG and European gas prices rose sharply. Hurricane Ida knocked out more than 30 million barrels of US Gulf of Mexico oil supply.
ICE Brent was edging toward $80 per barrel and US rig counts rose to 421.
Higher energy prices raise diesel and fertilizer costs for farmers and feed producers, and they boost biofuel economics that pull vegetable oils and corn into fuel use.
