The BIS September 2022 Quarterly Review reports that markets swung as investors reassessed central bank responses to persistent inflation, and the US dollar reached record highs. It also notes that effective restrictions on Russian energy output would spill over into industrial production and biofuel crops.
A record-high dollar and emerging-market currency weakness reduce the purchasing power of importers of feed commodities. The biofuel-crop spillover from energy restrictions could tighten vegetable oil and grain supplies.
