The EIA benchmark diesel price fell for the first time in 13 weeks, ending a 12-week streak of increases, though a 3.5 cent rise was published for the prior period. CME ultra low sulfur diesel settled down about 21 cents on the day.
The IEA monthly report said global crude output fell 10.1 million barrels per day in March, calling it the largest disruption in history.
The IEA data shows physical supply losses far larger than the headline price drop suggests, which supports elevated diesel and crude costs. Retail fuel is likely to lag futures lower, but the supply deficit limits downside.
